Our First Adults-Only All-Inclusive

We just got back from our first adults-only all-inclusive, the Hyatt Zilara Cancun, and I’m sharing what we loved, what felt different from a family resort, and what we didn’t love.

We were there celebrating a friend’s 40th birthday with seven couples, so it was the perfect excuse to try an adults-only resort for a change!

Getting There: Book Your Transportation Ahead

One thing I always recommend: arrange your airport transportation before you arrive. Hyatt Zilara is conveniently located close to Cancun International Airport, making it an easy transfer after your flight.

We booked our transportation through Viator and earned 15x points through Rakuten when that promotion was available.

Pro tip: Rakuten is a shopping portal that lets you earn extra points or cash back when you shop or book through participating retailers. If you haven’t signed up yet, use my Rakuten link here to get started and earn a bonus through my referral offer, if eligible.

What Felt Different About an Adults-Only Resort?

Honestly, the biggest difference was the atmosphere.

The food: I thought the food was slightly better than at some family-friendly all-inclusives we’ve visited, especially the seafood options. Having more variety was a definite plus.

The vibe: It was generally quieter and more relaxed. Well, at least until our group arrived! There’s something nice about being able to enjoy a cocktail by the pool without the usual family-resort energy.

The nightlife: This was another big win. The bars stayed open until 1 a.m., there was karaoke, and there were more opportunities to keep the evening going. We also found a super-cool speakeasy with fun cocktails that were included in the all-inclusive experience. That was a highlight!

What We Didn’t Love

We visited in September, and the sargassum (that pesky seaweed that can wash up along Caribbean beaches) was pretty bad. Unfortunately, that’s a seasonal factor that can affect your beach experience in Cancun.

It’s worth checking recent beach conditions before booking, especially if beautiful ocean water and beach time are high on your priority list.

Of course, we didn’t pay cash for our stay!

We used points we’d earned from the sign-up bonuses on our Chase Ink Business card and Chase Sapphire Reserve for Business to help fund our travels.

One of my favorite strategies is earning transferable credit card points and moving them to hotel partners like World of Hyatt. That can make an adults-only all-inclusive like Hyatt Zilara Cancun much more affordable.

Hyatt Zilara Cancun can be booked starting at 25,000 World of Hyatt points per night, depending on your dates and award availability.

Want to learn how to earn points like this? Check out my Chase Ink Business card link and Chase Sapphire Reserve for Business link.

Ready to check availability? Book Hyatt Zilara Cancun with World of Hyatt and see how many points your dates require.

This is exactly why I love points and miles: we can take more trips, experience amazing resorts, and spend less of our own money on travel.

Would We Stay at an Adults-Only All-Inclusive Again?

Absolutely! We had a great time celebrating with friends, enjoying the nightlife, and experiencing a different kind of all-inclusive.

I wouldn’t necessarily say adults-only is better than a family resort. They’re just different experiences, and I’m glad we finally tried one without the kids.

Now I’m dying to try Secrets Moxché or Impression Moxché next. Have you stayed at either? Tell me what you thought!
